Altrusa is an international non-profit organization making our local communities better through leadership, partnership, and service.
Our club offers an opportunity to make a real difference in Artesia, Lake Arthur and Hope. We undertake a variety of service, literacy, fundraising and international projects each year.
We are seeking new volunteers to join our organization and make a difference. Our members are from varying occupations and lifestyles, all sharing an interest in community service and enjoying the friendship, fun and satisfaction that comes from working together for the benefit of others.
On October 28, 2023, Altrusa International of Artesia, NM, held the 2nd Annual All Civic Luncheon! The Community Committee’s mission is to strengthen the bond between civic groups within Artesia, NM, and SE NM, so that their efforts can be combined to create solidarity in improving the neighborhoods, quality of life and safety/education of all citizens. The project was created so that each committee member would decorate one table, holding 6-8 individuals. Each area of the event was assigned a different member of the committee. Approximately 106 hours were dedicated to this project by the committee with 56% of the Artesia Altrusa Club in attendance. The event was advertised on the radio, social media, and personally invited Lions Clubs (Carlsbad & Artesia NM), Rotary, Desk and Derrick.
The Altrusa Club of Artesia, Rotary, Artesia and Carlsbad Downtown Lions, and Desk and Derrick, along with special Keynote Speaker Kate Asbill, Councilmen Jarrod Moreau and community members, were also in attendance. The councilmen declared October 28, 2023, ALL CIVIC DAY in Artesia NM.
Four outstanding civic minded individuals were recognized with certificates and Community Service pins.
Laurie Schotz – Altrusa Club of Artesia
Bob Stockwell– Carlsbad Downtown Lions
Pat Wood – Desk and Derrick
Terry Maupin – Artesia Downtown Lions
